SNAP
Stretch your food dollars!
SNAP is intended to supplement food and nutrition needs for people of all ages. Eligibility is based on your household size and income.
With SNAP, you can stretch your monthly food dollars and choose your own food. Second Harvest Heartland SNAP Outreach Specialists assist with eligibility screenings, applications, and finding resources in your community.
If you have an active SNAP card, we can assist with the recertification process. For more information and for help applying for SNAP benefits, call the Second Harvest Heartland SNAP Outreach Team at 651-209-7963 or complete an online inquiry form.
Low-cost internet
As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping the community connected, Xfinity is proud to participate in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides eligible households a credit of up to $30/month towards Internet service. We’re making it simple for both new and existing customers to apply this credit towards Xfinity Internet services, including Internet Essentials.
ACP is a $14.2 billion federal government program that extends and modifies the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program and continues to aim to help low-income households connect and stay connected to the Internet. Qualified households can receive a monthly credit of $30/month towards their Internet service.
If a customer is already an Internet Essentials customer, they qualify for ACP and simply need to enroll. Other qualifying criteria include a household members qualification for the Lifeline Program (such as Medicaid or SNAP), free and reduced-price school lunch program, or income level. Internet customers can visit Xfinity.com/acp to learn more about ACP and apply.
To qualify for $9.95 a month internet service and a low-cost computer, your household must meet all these criteria:
- Be located where Comcast offers internet service
- Have at least one child receiving free school lunches through the National School Lunch Program
- Have not subscribed to Comcast Internet service within the last 90 days
- Not have an overdue Comcast bill or un-returned equipment
How to apply:
- Call 1-855-8-INTERNET (1-855-846-8376) to request an application.
- Comcast will mail you an application. Complete and return it, along with lunch program documents from your child's school.
- Comcast will notify you by mail about the status of your application. Allow 7-10 days for a response.
- Once you are approved, Comcast will mail you a welcome package with everything you need to set up your Internet service and receive our free internet training. If you choose to purchase a low-cost computer, your welcome package will provide details.
